Formatting requirements

Use these guidelines when preparing articles, reports, and supporting media for editorial review.

01

Length and article type

For Notes from the Field, Tools of the Trade, and Perspective articles, submissions of about 750 words, or approximately one page, are preferred.

02

Author details

Identify the article type at the top of the first page and include the author’s name, affiliation when applicable, and email address.

03

Photos and graphics

Photos, maps, drawings, and charts are welcome. Submit graphics as separate high-resolution JPEG files, preferably 300 dpi and grayscale, rather than embedding them in the document.

04

Tables and figures

Use fonts that remain easy to read when reduced to a 3.5-inch column width or a 7-inch page width.

05

Literature citations

Follow Journal of Wildlife Management style. In-text examples include Smith 2020, Smith and Jones 2020, or Smith et al. 2020.

Example: Smith, J. 2020. Felid camera trapping techniques. Wildlife Society Bulletin 10(4):1-10.

06

Editorial review

WFA reserves the right to accept, reject, and edit submissions. Regional and state reports should omit personal opinions and provide appropriate source information.
